  7. What is Co-Op Shared Branching?
    1. With CO-OP Shared Branching, Riverbank Federal Credit Union is everywhere you are. No matter where you live, work, or travel, over 5,000 branches at credit unions from all over the country (Puerto Rico, Guam and military bases too!) are able to process your RFCU transactions for you.
    2. Available transactions include: deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers, money orders, official checks, and more! All you need is your RFCU account number and valid government-issued photo identification.

  8. What ATMs can I use surcharge-free?
    1. When you are away from RFCU’s ATM, be sure to use one of the nearly 30,000 ATMs in the CO-OP network to benefit from “surcharge-free” transactions. Aside from the thousands of credit union ATM locations, you can get cash at many popular retail locations such as Walgreens, Costco® and 7-Eleven®. So when you are out and about and need cash, the CO-OP ATM network is never far away.

    1. RFCU has a 24-hour Visa helpline ready to assist you with any debit card issues you may have, including transaction denials, lost or stolen cards, unauthorized transactions and more! Our 24-hour Visa helpline number is 866-820-0114. 
  3. Do you offer phone banking?
    1. Yes! Simply dial (860) 627-2850 for 24/7 access to your accounts by telephone. You can check on deposits, cleared checks, balance information and transfer funds between savings, checking and loan accounts. Convenient access to your accounts when you are away from your computer or if you don't have internet access.

  1. What is a credit union?
    1. A credit union is a not-for-profit financial institution that accepts deposits, make loans, and provides a wide array of other financial services and products. Deposits are insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, which is managed by The National Credit Union Administration, commonly referred to as NCUA. Backed by the full faith and credit of the United States, the Share Insurance Fund insures the accounts of millions of account holders in all federal credit unions and the vast majority of state-chartered credit unions. The standard share insurance amount is $250,000 per share owner, per insured credit union, for each account ownership category.

  4. Who can become a member?
    1. Riverbank Federal Credit Union is a locally based, community chartered federal credit union serving Hartford County. That means anyone who lives, works, worships, or goes to school in any of the towns of Hartford County and their immediate family members are eligible to open an account at the Credit Union.

RFCU is a member-owned cooperative.  Two of our guiding principles are Democratic Control and People Helping People.  This extends to how the Credit Union is managed.  We have a paid professional staff led by our President & CEO, Charla Stetson.  Our staff works each day to move the mission of the Credit Union forward.  But did you know that our Board of Directors and our Supervisory Committee are composed of members who have volunteered their time and expertise to oversee your Credit Union?  This volunteer leadership is a differentiator between non-for-profit credit unions and for-profit banks.
